For Kids

teen2sIt’s the smile you live for—one that has brought you much joy and plenty of smiles of your own. So if that smile is causing your child pain or embarrassment, you know that you need to act. Here at Raleigh Hills Ortho, we are dedicated to ensuring that your child will have a smile that is healthy and bright. Our early orthodontics treatments can help to reduce or eliminate problems later in life as well as treat those that have already emerged. The goal is to correct the smallest problems to prevent them from becoming big ones later on.

If you are unsure if you should take your child to the orthodontist or not, there is no harm in scheduling a visit. In fact, it is recommended that all children see an orthodontist around the age of seven, even if the parents have no concerns. However, here are a few signs that scheduling this visit is imperative:

  • Your child lost his or her baby teeth earlier or later than average
  • The teeth seem to be too close together, in the wrong place, or are blocked
  • When the mouth is closed, the teeth do not come together correctly
  • Your child’s jaws and teeth seem to be out of proportion compared to other facial features
  • Chewing and biting food is difficult
  • He or she breathes through the mouth instead of the nose
  • Thumb and finger sucking was relied on for comfort after teeth emerged
  • The jaws pop when opening or closing
